Amazin' AsianCounter culture

There have been several articles praising many elements of Wong, but I discovered my own title to bestow on it: Amazing Hangover Killer. The appetizers at Wong were able to undo an entire day’s worth of headaches, nausea and general queasiness in a few fried, vinegary bites. As I sat at the counter at Wong, […]

Extra Fancy Oyster Crackers

pants at a glance

  • scene: NOT Extra Fancy! Williamsburg locals and some recognizable NYC cool kids in the restaurant scene (the owners are from Employees Only & Macao Trading Company)
  • sip: Amazing sounding drink menu (esp the Baby, You're Driving cocktail), and tons of options for beer and wine by the glass.
  • savor: Oyster "Crackers", Fried Clam Belly Roll, Mussels, Clam Bake
  • sit: No reservations, so arrive early and be prepared to drink. Booths for two in the back were cozy, however the large bar in front had a great crowd when we left and would also be perfect to eat at
  • stilettos: Did I mention the restaurant is in Williamsburg? Leave your loubs at home for godssake...

Summer Fridays… usually a term that relates to getting out of the city and on to the beach for an early start to the weekend, but for this sister, it means getting creative for Date Night. I was actually excited that we declined a summer share house this year, and this was justified by a […]

Upon walking up to Westville, it is hard to tell that this is actually a dining establishment and not a coffee shop..It’s right off Bleeker, on a sleepy street in the West Village. A lot of people I know get delivery from there, but I have been wanting to go for a while. I hadn’t […]

Bradley, if you still work at a Esca and you are reading this, I think that you suck.  You are a mediocre manager, a “stiff” as my father would say, lacking in graciousness and any sense of service recovery.  When you serve someone cold salmon, and the waiter has acknowledged an unusual wait time between […]

  • scene: Slightly funky old/new vibe; skylight keeps the dining room light, and the big dark wood bar in the bar is impressive; the library will be cozy in the winter but is a little dark now
  • sip: A list of 30 custom cocktails is offered; when we asked for some guidance we were met with slight attitude, but the bartender eventually came around; well-rounded wine list full of surprises
  • savor: Trout; Snap pea salad; Winner Winner Chicken Dinner
  • sit: With at least one other person to share the chicken; with your parents, foodie friends from out of town, friends who live in the neighborhood

chicken for twocozyHyped Chefspecial occassion

Ladies and gentlemen, there is a new chicken king in town, and he is rich, tasty, and full of suprises.  Forget everything you know about chicken, because next to the chicken for two at The NoMad, every other fowl just looks foul. I love fanciness.  Slide me into some serious threadcount sheets at a five […]
