Don Giovanni’s really needs to get over themselves

There’s nothing worse than having to wait longer than expected for your food – in any capacity. Whether it be terrible service in a restaurant, ordering delivery, or even waiting in the freaking line at McDonald’s, no one likes to fuck around when they are hungry. Timing is crucial when ordering food to be delivered- you can either order early, in anticipation of hunger striking, or order once you are already hungry, and when you choose the latter and the order takes longer than expected, well, then, that is when things can get ugly…

Don Giovanni’s really needs to get over themselves. Their Italian food is good, the atmosphere there isn’t great, but their service is god awful. I’m sorry, but I don’t need your chicken parm enough to get yelled at by someone that I used Seamless Web to avoid talking to, nor do I have to wait an hour and a half for you to deliver it 8 blocks away.

Let me elaborate…
On a rainy night, not too long ago, I was on Seamless because we were craving Italian and I saw that Don Giovanni’s delivered to me from 23rd and 10th. A, my friend, and I, took 30 minutes alone to decide what to order, and not 10 minutes after I received my Seamless confirmation, did I get a phone call from Don Giovanni’s. The man on the phone hastily told me that not only will this take a long time because its raining, but I also shouldn’t have delivered there. Now, isn’t that the point of Seamless? They filter these things for you so you don’t have to worry about problems like this. I told him I did it online, and he said, “Don’t call us again, we need to change Seamless, and we shouldn’t even be delivering to you.” I told him I don’t care how long it took, I still wanted my food because by the time we found what we wanted somewhere else, it would be the same wait. So not only did I now know I would have to wait,  I also turned bright red with a feeling like I was back in 2nd grade getting yelled at by Ms. Kruszka for talking to my best friend too much.

PS – the food came a surprisingly 20 minutes later, so I think this man/manager should have more confidence in his delivery boys.

Similar story happened to A, who, after ordering on Seamless and waiting for an hour for it to come, called Don Giovanni’s with a mere inquisition as to where on god’s green earth her food was.  She was told to consider her self lucky that the order was coming at all because she lives too far, and seamless is wrong, and going cialtad.com forward she should never order from there again…

Fast forward to today, a cold, rainy fall day in NYC, and after another 20 minutes trying to decide where to order chicken parm from, I went with my instincts that Don Giovanni’s was probably the best in the area. Plus, I’m safely in their delivery range and wouldn’t have to worry about being berated by the angry manager there. Phew!! I placed an order for chicken parm, and a caesar salad. Simple enough. I received that glorious email telling me that my order will be delivered in 20-30 minutes, and I went back to doing work.

Well, an hour later, I called them to see where it was. I shuddered when I heard that menacing voice pick up, for I thought for sure he was fired by now given the way he speaks to people. I gave him my address, and he replies, “He will be there in a few minutes – you are far away.” I wasn’t having this – “Far? I’m on 29th and 7th!” “Oh, I thought it was to the Empire State Building on 34th and 5th.” No asshole, that’s why I said 350 SEVENTH Avenue. He assured me it would come, not giving any sort of detail or guaranteed time, and hung up.
Twenty minutes later, I am so famished that I am being such a bitch to everyone and am ready for a fight (but not to cancel my order because I just really wanted it). I call back, and he pretty much just says, “It’s coming – we are really busy today.”

OK you Don Giovanni bully – you need to read up on how to use Seamless Web as a restaurant. I, for one, can give you a lesson as the restaurant group I work for utilizes it as well.
First off, you can control your delivery area – this will eliminate you yelling at us that you “shouldn’t be delivering to us anyway” – not my fault, and you really shouldn’t argue with a hungry person.

Secondly, you can ALSO control the delivery time – therefore, when you are “really busy,” you can change the time frame from 20-30 minutes to 45-60 minutes so at the VERY LEAST, I know what I’m in for and can order from somewhere that doesn’t lie.

Don Giovanni’s needs a lesson not only on the groundbreaking technology that is Seamless Web, but also service – stop yelling at me because you are incompetent. I doubt the neighborhood customers you cater to won’t want to take your shit either. And be happy that you are busy and we want to order from you.
Thanks!
